It can be really tough. We live in an instant gratification society. We have for a while now and it just continues to escalate. Food, t.v., books, music, email, online shopping, etc...all at the tip of our fingers and available whenever we want--night or day. This makes it exceedingly hard to teach and practice patience.
So how are supposed to patiently wait on someone we cannot physically grasp in our hands for something that may or may not be tangible?
How are we supposed to wait for God to grant our prayers, hear our hopes and see our tears?
How are we supposed to have faith that we could still be blessed with that new home, with that child we keep dreaming of, with that partner to share our life with?
How do we keep hoping for a better job, friends, a car that doesn't always break down?
How does a person wait on an unforeseeable timetable?
How in the world are we supposed to be so patient for things not promised at completely unknowable times? When will the thing that you deeply desire happen for you? How are we supposed to do that without crying, hyperventilating, giving up? Simply put--some of that might still happen.
You might cry or scream or curl up in a little stress ball! BUT! If you do give up, let it be for a minute period of time; tiny.
Get back up and try again! Hope again! Pray more! Find your faith and strengthen it.
However easy or hard it is for us as humans to wait on God's timing, the bright side is that He has made and equipped us to be able to relentlessly hope for a brighter future full of His blessings. He continuously assures us that it is worth all we will experience in order to experience His blessings and promises. There is no better way to do that then by reminding yourself of God's promises.
